Who We Are?

REACH313 is a 501c3 nonprofit organization that is focused on empowering children, youth, seniors and veterans facing food insecurity. Our goal is to provide basic health needs by partnering with local schools and other organizations through food, programming, mentorship and sports.

REAC313 is designed to fill the gaps in food access that children face during weekends, summers, and extended breaks. Our phase 1 focus is our Weekend Food Program, which operates in multiple schools to provide children with wholesome food each Friday and eliminate the weekend food gap. Each school has an opportunity to be sponsored by one or more groups in the community – an essential component of our programs.

About CEO

Reach 313 was born out of the heart of its founder Ronald P. Hopkins III while he was the Dean of Students for a Charter School in the metro Boston area. As the Dean, he had a front row seat to the level of food insecurity amongst the youth at his middle school. He met with the school social worker and identified 15 families that were homeless and in need. He used the Thanksgiving holiday season as a target to start something that would be the beginning of a formalized 501©3 nonprofit organization. Ronald partnered together with other local organizations and was able to provide food baskets and grocery gift cards to the families. Because of its success the first year the “reach” doubled in size and the following year he was able to assist 30 families in need. Now his efforts are moving to his home town of metro Detroit and will function under the name of Reach313, with the goal in mind of “reaching” the 313 area code with basic health necessities one family at a time.
